What we publish

• Guides and answers. Over 230 articles on car, home, health and life insurance: what is covered, what claims cost, and where policies commonly fall short.
• Calculators. Sixty free tools covering coverage amounts, claim decisions, plan comparisons and settlement maths.
• Company and market data. Information on insurers drawn from public filings and regulatory sources.

How we research

Our work draws on standard policy language, state insurance department rules, NAIC filings and federal programme documentation. Insurance is governed state by state, so we say which state a rule applies to rather than pretending one answer fits the country.

Where we publish figures, we date them. Rates and rules change annually, and a number without a date is worse than no number at all.

What we are building

We are compiling a directory of U.S. insurance companies and agencies, including locations, licence status and complaint records from state regulators. It will go live once the data has been verified, not before.

What we are not

We are not an insurer, an agency or a broker. We do not sell policies, we do not generate leads, and we receive no commission from any insurance company.
