Worth knowing
- Illinois is one of fewer than half the states that require uninsured motorist coverage. The minimum is 25/50 for bodily injury.
- Underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage is also required where you buy UM limits above the state minimum.
- Required UM coverage applies to bodily injury only. Uninsured motorist property damage is optional and must be added separately.
- The 25/50/20 minimum is low against real costs. A moderate injury claim frequently exceeds $25,000 on its own.
