Worth knowing
- North Carolina now has the highest minimum limits of any state, after the increase that took effect on 1 July 2025.
- Both uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage are required.
- North Carolina uses contributory negligence: if you are even slightly at fault, you may recover nothing from the other driver. Only a few states still apply this rule.
- Policies written before July 2025 may still show the old 30/60/25 limits until renewal.
